Beautiful vintage dining set consisting of an extendable dining table and four dining chairs, designed by Cees Braakman and produced by Pastoe in the 1960s. The chairs are model SM08, and although the table is often sold under the same model number, this number is currently unknown.
This set comes from the estate of the original owners in Huizen and has been completely restored in our workshop. The chairs were upholstered in a thick black fabric with a purple geometric pattern. Yes, that was a bit too daring for us. Moreover, those beautiful rosewood backrests were also covered! Reason enough for a new look.
The dining set is now in very good condition. Of course, there are a few spots commensurate with its age, but that also gives it a bit more character, right? Good. The table and chair backs are made of rosewood, an exotic wood known for its beautiful grain. That's no exception with this set; the tabletop is the perfect example!
This Pastoe set is characterized by its sleek yet flowing metal frames. The chairs are designed to complement the table (or vice versa) and therefore complement each other seamlessly. The table extends, ideal for frequent gatherings of larger groups. Our favorite feature of this set: the elegantly curved backrest with a satin finish. The interplay of materials (leather, wood, and metal) is perfectly executed, creating a truly visual feast. Absolute mid-century Dutch design gems that will be enjoyed for years to come.
