Product description
This beautiful set of salt-glazed earthenware, consisting of a carafe with stopper and a matching cup, was made in Germany, likely in the 1960s. Both items are decorated with a modern horse motif from the mid-20th century. The set is executed in a beautiful cobalt blue and brown color on a gray background, and both items are signed on the bottom. The technique of salt glazing earthenware originated in Germany around 1400. Its popularity spread across Europe to England and reached colonial America in the 17th century. PLEASE NOTE: the cork part of the stopper is missing a small piece, but this is not visible from the outside when the stopper is placed in the carafe. The ceramics of both items are still in excellent condition. Carafe dimensions: Height: 25 centimeters Diameter: 8.7 centimeters Cup dimensions: Height: 9.5 centimeters Diameter: 7.5 centimeters
