A refined architectural trio from Rosenthal Studio-Line, designed by Sami Wirkkala in the early 1980s — a period defined by sculptural clarity and Nordic restraint.
The ensemble consists of:
• Vase – Model 3708/22 (1982)
• Two Candle Holders – Model 3708/7 (1983)
Executed in luminous white porcelain, the design plays with contrast between matte and glossy surfaces, allowing light to articulate the subtle curvature of the forms.
Form & Design Language
The vase rises in a softly concave rectangular silhouette, its gently undulating vertical plane creating quiet movement within a strictly geometric framework. The rim follows the same flowing contour, reinforcing the architectural discipline of the piece.
The candle holders echo this language in compact cubic format. Each block is carved by a smooth wave-like indentation, softening the cube’s rigidity while preserving structural clarity. The matte and glossy interplay enhances this sculptural dialogue.
This is porcelain reduced to essential gesture — restrained, deliberate, modern.
