Product description
This relief print titled “Winter” by Dutch artist Leentje Linders, created in 1989, is a signed and numbered work (14/50) produced as an artist’s own print. A fleeting moment unfolds across the paper, as if time itself is stretched into visible rhythm—each figure echoing the last, tracing the quiet speed and fluidity of a descent through snow. The bold yellow ski suit, oversized silhouette, and stylized hair and sunglasses evoke a distinctly 1980s aesthetic, anchoring the scene in its time while enhancing its expressive character. The composition captures a dynamic skier in motion, repeated in fading sequence to suggest movement across the surface. The central figure, dressed in a vivid yellow suit with red skis, contrasts against softer, ghosted impressions behind, creating a sense of rhythm and progression. The combination of line work and subtle coloring reflects a graphic, illustrative approach, while the embossed relief elements add a tactile dimension to the image. Leentje Linders is known for her expressive and often playful figurative works, frequently exploring movement and human activity through layered techniques. Her use of relief printing combined with etching techniques lends her work a distinctive depth, balancing graphic clarity with physical texture. She gained wide recognition for her dynamic etchings of sports and for her virtuosic works incorporating elements of aviation and maritime subjects. Her work is included in the collections of several major museums, the Caldic Collection, and various art lending institutions. She has also completed a personal commission for H.M. Queen Beatrix, and in 2008 she was awarded the BAS Graphics Prize for her etching “Apollo Thirteen.” Designer: Leentje Linders Origin: the Netherlands Style: Figurative contemporary Period: 1989 Materials: Paper, ink, relief print under glass Color: Yellow, red, blue, black, muted tones Dimensions (approx.): Frame 50 x 40 cm; artwork 48.5 x 32.5 cm Condition The artwork is in very good vintage condition.
