Product description
A beautiful traditional Chinese tea set, comprising a teapot, five small cups, and a tray. Made of beige porcelain, it features a stamped blue calligraphy of "Epitaph." This vintage piece is a Qing-style reproduction, likely produced between the 1950s and 1970s, in the spirit of pieces from the Qing imperial dynasty. It bears a mark known as "Shunzhi" (apocryphal, for decorative purposes) and is marked 清順治年製 "Dà Qīng Shùnzhì Nián Zhì" ("Great Qing Dynasty, Reign Name of Emperor Shunzhi (1644–1661), Made in the Year of the Dog"). This is a later production.
The tray is lobed, measuring 26.5 cm in length at its widest point, 22 cm at its widest, and 4 cm in height. Teapot with a brass or gilt bronze handle, as well as a rim around the neck, lid, and base. It measures 17cm in height without the handle, 23cm with the handle, and is approximately 13cm in diameter. The set is cylindrical in shape and approximately 18cm in width with the spout. It has a large capacity. It also includes five small hexagonal cups, each 5cm high and 6.5cm in width/diameter. The teapot is in very good overall condition, showing visible signs of use but no damage. There is natural, fine crackling and discoloration from the tea, particularly in the cups. The metal on the teapot shows wear, and there is oxidation and tarnish on the rims, but the handle is clean and polished from use. The set weighs approximately 2.5-3kg.
