This charming statuette transports us to rural France of yesteryear, when village markets, farms, and farmyards punctuated daily life. It depicts a peasant woman carrying a basket filled with poultry, a simple and authentic scene that evokes the agricultural world of the early 20th century. Made from molded terracotta and hand-painted, this figurine captivates with the softness of its modeling and the warmth of its polychromy. The red headscarf, grey apron, clogs, and the details of the basket bear witness to a true attention to detail. Its peaceful expression and serene demeanor lend it a timeless charm. Without aiming for a faithful representation of a specific regional costume, this piece celebrates French country life and the craftsmanship of the small workshops that produced decorative objects for family homes from the 1930s to the 1950s. Each piece was then enhanced with hand-painting, making each example slightly unique. It is presented in a beautiful state of preservation, with a use-patina consistent with its age, which fully contributes to its authenticity and character. Height approximately 12 cm.
