Designed by Louis C. Kalff for Philips in the 1950s, this "Bijou" table lamp is a defining piece of Dutch mid-century lighting. The Type 6832 model's saucer-shaped silhouette perfectly captures the optimistic, UFO-inspired aesthetic of the Space Age era. Crafted in the Netherlands, the lamp features a painted aluminium shade in a distinctive matte petrol blue, supported by an elegant brass tripod base. It measures 33 centimetres in height with a shade diameter of 29 centimetres. The fixture retains its original porcelain and metal socket, accommodating standard E27 bulbs, and casts a soft downward light that highlights the sculpted interior when paired with a crown mirror bulb. The lamp remains in good vintage condition, retaining its original finish and a natural patina that speaks to its history. It brings a touch of architectural character to a home office desk, a living room side table, or a mid-century modern reading nook.
