The vintage Osram Theratherm infrared therapeutic lamp was produced in Germany between the late 1950s and early 1960s. An elegant space-age style model, with a vanilla-colored plastic base and a dark brown Bakelite body, adjustable to adjust the lamp's orientation. It can easily be converted into a table lamp. In excellent condition, complete, and with fully functional electronics. Sold complete with its original large 250W Osram dark/ruby red bulb; the dark glass filters visible light and lets only infrared light pass through. The Theratherm lamp was a small household electromedical device and was primarily used for heat therapy and beauty treatments: it was particularly suitable for relieving muscle pain. The infrared heat penetrates the skin and was used for: muscle and joint pain; stiff neck, lumbago, bruises, rheumatism; sinusitis, colds, and earaches. It was aimed at the face at a distance of 40-50cm. All you had to do was turn it on and stand under it for 10-15 minutes. It was incredibly hot, the precursor to the modern heat lamps used by physiotherapists. It has become a highly sought-after item as a "mid-century vintage design," and collectors buy it as a decorative piece. Dimensions: approximately 21 x 24 cm, height 25 cm.
