Product description
Beautiful large advertising rum decanter in glazed earthenware, depicting a standing Newfoundland dog. Vintage from the 1950s-1960s. This model is known as an advertising bottle for the Canadian rum Newfoundland Screech, although this particular example no longer retains its original label or medallion. The dog has a deeply glossy black coat with a raised, textured finish, large red and white eyes, and a pink tongue, all hand-painted in polychrome detail. The neck is discreetly positioned at the top of the head. The original stopper is missing. The ceramic under the paws appears porous, so its use as a liquid container is not recommended. Approximately 28cm long, 24.5cm high, and 10cm deep. Very good overall condition, with a small touch-up of paint above the left eye and around the neck, but no significant cracks or chips. Approximately 1.2 kg.
