A sculptural Murano ashtray, or vide poche, made of heavy, solid glass, crafted in Italy in the 1950s/60s. The square base is softened by gently curved, upturned corners, giving the object its characteristic mid-century silhouette. Inside lies an intensely yellow-green uranium glass core, encased in clear glass, lending the piece exceptional optical depth. Under UV light, the uranium glass exhibits its typical luminous green fluorescence. The substantial wall thickness and organic design make the piece particularly striking as an ashtray, vide poche, small bowl, or decorative glass object.
