Dutch vintage modular freestanding wall system, designed and produced by Simpla Lux. This system is a fine example of thoughtful and functional Dutch furniture design from the mid-20th century, where flexibility, durability, and a calm design language take center stage.
Simpla Lux was a Dutch furniture manufacturer that specialized in modular wall and storage systems for the modern home in the 1950s and 1960s. The brand catered to post-war living ideals of efficient space utilization and adaptability. The furniture was designed as separate elements that could be combined, expanded, or rearranged as desired. The style is understated and functional, with clear influences from modernism, and is characterized by a timeless character and a solid construction. This freestanding wall system consists of: two open shelves (suitable for books, objects, or lighting), one hanging cabinet with two doors (ideal for closed storage at eye level), and two floor-standing cabinets, of which: one cabinet with four drawers and one cabinet with two lockable doors.
The combination of open and closed elements creates a balanced and practical whole. Thanks to the modular design, the system can be placed freely in the room and is suitable for various applications, such as the living room, study, or dining area.
The wall system is in good vintage condition, with signs of use appropriate for its age. The furniture has been carefully cleaned and oiled, while the wood has retained its warm and natural appearance.
