Product description
Vintage Minty of Oxford Sectional Stacking Bookcase | 1950s–1960s | Oak | British Mid-Century Design A wonderful mid-century vintage sectional stacking bookcase by Minty of Oxford, dating from around the 1950s–1960s, beautifully combining classic British craftsmanship with an exceptionally practical modular design. The bookcase is constructed from a series of separate wooden sections that stack securely on top of one another. This clever sectional construction means the individual modules can be rearranged, separated or taken apart, allowing the piece to be adapted to different rooms and storage requirements. The upper sections feature elegant sliding glass doors, providing the perfect display space for books, ceramics, glassware, collectables or treasured decorative objects, while keeping everything protected from dust. The lower section forms a substantial closed wooden cabinet with double doors, offering generous concealed storage for larger items that you may prefer to keep neatly out of sight. Beautifully made from oak, the bookcase has a wonderfully warm, polished grain that gives the piece a rich and timeless appearance. The natural character of the oak works beautifully with the clean, understated lines of the design, creating that unmistakable mid-century British aesthetic. About Minty of Oxford Minty of Oxford was one of Britain's most respected names in traditional bookcase furniture. Founded in Oxford in the 19th century, the company became particularly renowned for its innovative sectional and stacking bookcases, which were designed to provide flexible storage while maintaining a beautifully crafted appearance. Minty's stacking system became highly regarded because individual sections could be added, removed or rearranged, making the furniture remarkably versatile. Their bookcases were produced in quality timbers and are now highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts of British antique and mid-century furniture. A Beautifully Versatile Statement Piece This Minty of Oxford bookcase is a fantastic example of 1950s–60s British furniture design, combining quality oak craftsmanship with an ingenious modular construction. The combination of glass-fronted display sections and concealed cupboard storage makes it equally suited to a living room, study, library, dining room or office. A beautifully crafted and highly versatile vintage bookcase with warm oak grain, elegant proportions and the wonderfully practical stacking design for which Minty of Oxford is famous. A timeless piece for collectors and lovers of authentic British furniture. Lovingly cared for with minor signs of age, enhancing its vintage appeal. L 89cm X d 29cm X h 147cm
