A charming small oval box, originating from Trésors d'Art du Caramy in the south of France. Its old label is still preserved on the back, directly linking this piece to its origin. It belongs to those small, refined accessories that were once slipped into a handbag or placed on a dressing table. A pill box, small jewelry box, or case for a few small precious items, it bears witness to an era when even the most modest accessories were conceived as true decorative objects. Its lid is particularly captivating. Beneath its domed surface appears a millefiori glass composition, made of a multitude of small colored sections assembled into floral patterns. The orange, red, white, and brown tones form a true little mosaic, highlighted by the gilded metal frame. The reverse side, adorned with a radiant design, still retains its old label « Trésors d'Art du Caramy – France ». The Caramy is a Provençal river in the Var region, notably crossing the territory of the Green Provence. This indication gives the box a lovely regional dimension and evokes those decorative objects and fancy accessories offered to travelers and visitors in the South of France during the post-war decades. Inside, the box features a light finish and a small mirror at the bottom, a detail that confirms its purpose as a feminine handbag or dressing table accessory. The front clasp allows it to be kept carefully closed.
