Beautiful vintage studio pottery table lamp, dating approximately from the 1960s–70s.
The hand-thrown ceramic base has a wonderfully simple spherical form finished in a deep midnight/navy blue glaze. Subtle throwing lines and variations in the surface emphasize its handmade character.
The base bears an impressed JM monogram, although the maker has not yet been conclusively identified.
Completed by a beautiful period cylindrical textile lampshade woven in muted blue, cream and natural tones. When illuminated, the fabric produces a particularly warm atmospheric light and contrasts beautifully with the dark ceramic base.
