Vintage, mid-century, space age, magazine rack made of metal and scoubidou, from the 1950's. The rack features a very cool, architectural design with a tall handle, and two, sleek sides resembling shark fins, that angle upwards in the opposite direction of one another, and are accented with bright red scoubidou (aka "lanyard".) The entire structure is made of flexible metal, that rests upon 4 legs that angle outwards, and finish on their original, black feet tips (see photos.). Piece is in overall very good, original and vintage condition, with some light marks, signs of age and previous use commensurate with time, as well as a patina of time, on the overall structure, handle, sides, scoubidou, legs and feet tips, (see photos.) Please note: due to the age of this piece and because it was designed to be flexible, there is a minimal discrepancy of about 3 mm, in the height of one of the legs, when empty. Once used as intended, the 4 feet become flush with the ground (see last photo.)
Instead of being re-painted, the piece has only been waxed with a metal wax, to both protect and preserve the integrity of the original patina. All photos taken in natural, outdoor light, so colors may vary, based upon brightness, reflections, angles and perspective in which they are viewed.
