This armchair from 1401 was designed by Wim Rietveld for Gispen in the 1950s. With a straight backrest, it rests on a steel structure painted in graphite black. The back and seat are both made of steel, which has been lacquered, and are fitted with a removable foam rubber cover. The seat has two bakelite armrests. This chair was presented for the first time at the 10th Milan Triennial (1954) and was awarded a gold medal. It was upholstered with a beautiful green Kvadrat Tonica (wool) fabric.
