A very rare collector's lamp/sculpture by Lilette and Gilbert Valentin, Atelier Les Archanges, Vallauris, France, 1950s.
Zoomorphic table lamp from the 1950s. Unique piece. Ceramic and dyed straw. Partially glazed decoration with gray areas, black and yellow granite. Height: 35 cm - Width: 25 cm - Depth: 18 cm. Height of the ceramic without the base: 21 cm - Width: 12 cm. The matching saucer (16x13cm) is included with the lamp. Excellent condition with some signs of age. At the time, the Atelier Les Archanges was one of the most renowned and creative in France, frequented by numerous artists, painters, sculptors, musicians, and writers, including Pablo Picasso, Jacques Prévert, Georges Braque, and Jean Cocteau (a close friend who suggested the name Les Archanges to the Valentins). Les Archanges is among the ten most highly regarded French ceramic artists today.
