A striking and architectural set of four vintage Iva dining chairs designed by Roberto Pamio and Renato Toso for Stilwood, Italy, originally introduced in 1972. With their thick rectilinear seats, cylindrical rear legs, and sharply angled round front legs that continue upward into the back supports, these chairs have a bold silhouette that feels somewhere between Italian modernism, postmodern restraint, and sculptural functional design. The model is widely documented as the Iva chair for Stilwood from 1972.
Pamio and Toso are known for designs that push everyday furniture into a more architectural territory, and these chairs are a beautiful example of that approach. Rather than relying on decorative details, the design is all about line, proportion, and construction: the seat appears almost like a floating block, while the backrest and leg angles give the chair its distinctive identity. Stilwood produced several refined Italian modern pieces in the 1970s, and the Iva model has become one of the more recognisable and collectible examples from that period.
