Vintage Italian 1950s Art Deco Opaline Pendant Lamp
Beautiful Italian Art Deco pendant lamp from the 1950s. At least, we suspect this pendant lamp was made in Italy. Similar lamps originated in the Southern European region – Italy and Yugoslavia. But we can confidently say that Murano glassblowing expertise was consulted!
This lamp is mouth-blown and therefore not a factory-made lamp. A characteristic of this is that the weight of the glass is not exactly uniform throughout. As a result, the lamp leans slightly to one side, although this is barely noticeable. The glassblower's craftsmanship is clearly visible at the bottom, where the lamp is blown almost perfectly round.
The lamp is made of opaline glass, has green rings, and is finished with a brass shade. The wiring and socket have been replaced, and a new hinge has been added to compensate for the balance and thus prevent the tilt. The ceiling rose is still original, as is the suspension eye. We have also fitted the lamp with a new warm white LED.
The pendant lamp is in good vintage condition, with some superficial scratches in the green coating.
