Vintage IKEA Niklas wall unit | Rutger Andersson | 1980s | modular
Beautiful and complete modular wall system by IKEA, built in a time when IKEA still made things to last. Solid materials, sturdy finish, and after more than 30 years, still as sturdy as a rock. Purchased around 1995, designed in the 1980s by Rutger Andersson.
The system is modular and can be arranged entirely to your liking. Shelves and cabinet elements can be placed at different heights between the metal uprights, and no tools are needed for assembly. This type of cabinet is becoming increasingly popular among vintage and design enthusiasts and has long since been discontinued; a rare, complete find. Contents:
- Metal uprights:
1x low corner upright
9x low upright (~102cm high, ~43cm deep)
2x high upright (~200cm high, ~43cm deep)
2x high wide upright (~200cm high, ~59cm deep)
- Shelves and tools
6x shelf for corner upright (~80cm short side / ~120cm long side)
2x cabinet with 4 drawers (~40cm wide)
3x cabinet with doors (~80cm wide) including 6 interior shelves
1x display cabinet with glass doors (packaged, good condition) including glass shelf
14x corner shelves (for connecting high upright to high wide upright)
Original cross braces for stability
There are still some materials at my parents' place for storage (there are also 3x wide shelves for the wide high uprights there).
