A beautiful Schalmei 'Ice Block' wall lamp by Julius Theodor Kalmar for Kalmar, Austria – 1972. Texturally rich, modernist lighting in sculptural cast glass and nickel.
Designed by Julius Theodor Kalmar and first presented in the 1972 Kalmar catalog, the Schalmei wall lamp is often referred to as the 'Ice Block' model – a perfect example of the Viennese brand's signature combination of luxurious materials and architectural forms. The lamp features a deeply textured, embossed glass diffuser mounted on a nickel-plated metal frame.
The hand-finished glass evokes a sense of frozen movement and diffuses the light with a crystal-clear glow. Behind the glass are three E14 sockets, ensuring even and atmospheric illumination.
Dimensions: 27 cm high, 29 cm wide, and 10 cm deep.
