Rosenthal Studio-Line “Goldfeuer” Duo
Design: Helmut Drexler & Rosemonde Nairac
Model 3775/16 Vase (1986) & Model 3774/1 Lidded Box
Germany
Satin porcelain with crystalline “Goldfeuer” surface
A rare and sculpturally resolved Rosenthal Studio-Line duo from the mid-1980s, designed by Helmut Drexler in collaboration with Rosemonde Nairac.
This ensemble unites a slender architectural vase (model 3775/16, 1986) and a geometric lidded box (model 3774/1), both executed in Rosenthal’s distinctive “Goldfeuer” finish — a satin porcelain surface with crystalline, mineral-like patterning that recalls oxidized metal, volcanic stone, or gilded frost.
Unlike earlier graphic Studio-Line decors, Goldfeuer is atmospheric rather than linear: the surface appears almost alchemical, with metallic warmth emerging from beneath a matte, softly textured glaze.
The Designers
Helmut Drexler, long associated with Rosenthal’s design direction, is known for architectural clarity and restrained geometry.
Rosemonde Nairac brought a more material-driven sensitivity, resulting in surfaces that feel tactile and elemental rather than purely graphic.
Together, their collaboration reflects Rosenthal’s 1980s shift toward material experimentation and sculptural minimalism — moving beyond Op-Art graphics into nuanced surface research.

Collector’s Perspective
The Goldfeuer finish is considerably less common than Rosenthal’s graphic 1960s–70s decors and represents a more sophisticated late-modern Studio-Line phase.
This duo works as:
• a minimalist sculptural pair
• a refined 1980s design statement
• a material-driven alternative to graphic Studio-Line pieces
• a rare and cohesive Rosenthal collaboration work
Subtle, intelligent, and architectural — a strong addition for collectors of late 20th-century German porcelain.
