This vintage Buddhist statue depicts Yab-Yum, the tantric representation of a male and female figure in ritual union. The composition is a powerful expression of Vajrayana Buddhism, symbolising the inseparable union of compassion and wisdom required for spiritual awakening.Executed in bronze, the figures are seated together upon a modelled double-lotus base. The piece retains visible remnants of its original gilding over the darker patinated metal, creating a rich visual contrast. The closed underside features an irregular, manually finished surface consistent with traditional hand production methods. The statue measures 32 centimetres in height and 21.5 centimetres in width, with a substantial weight of approximately 4.2 kilograms. Its style and execution suggest an Asian origin, produced circa the 1960s.The statue is in good vintage condition, displaying natural wear that has exposed the bronze beneath the gilding.
