Beautiful vintage daybed by the Finnish manufacturer Asko, dating from the 1950s/60s. A stylish and rare piece of furniture with a warm wooden frame, a low, sleek shape, and elegant tapered legs.
The design has a distinct Scandinavian mid-century look: minimalist, functional, and timeless. The raised wooden rim all around gives the daybed a distinctive, almost tray-like shape. This makes it a perfect fit for a Japandi, Scandinavian, vintage, or modern interior.
The bed base consists of a perforated hardboard panel, often known in the Netherlands and Belgium as a Vlavro bed base. This type of base was widely used in beds and daybeds in the 1950s and 60s due to its ventilation and lightweight construction.
The original "Made in Finland" stamp is visible on the underside. The furniture comes from the Finnish design tradition of Asko, a major producer of Scandinavian modern design.
The daybed is in very neat vintage condition. The wooden frame has a beautiful warm color and looks well-maintained. There are only light signs of wear consistent with its age. The bed base is neat and sturdy.
Beautifully styled with a full-size mattress, linen cover, and bolster cushion as a daybed, guest bed, or low lounge area.
