Beautiful, handcrafted, French, farmhouse milking stool on tapered legs, from the late 50’s - early 60’s. Made of solid wood with a rich, dark brown-colored finish tinged with hues of burnt umber, this vintage piece is unlike other stools, as no nails were used to attach the legs. Instead, they can be inserted, then screwed into place by hand, under the seat. Piece is in wonderful, very good, original and vintage condition, as it has clearly been well-preserved over the years. The seat has maintained its natural wood grain and form, and the color, its rich, original patina. Typically, stool seats like this are simply round. This one has a design that was carved into the edges, making it that much more unique. Light signs of age and previous commensurate with time on the seat and legs. Minuscule hairline mark on the top as wood is not new, (see photos), but nothing that takes away from its charm or beauty, or functionality. Patina consistent with age, use and time. Both sturdy, stable and functional, this fantastic, rustic piece of craftsmanship, is perfect to use as originally intended: for sitting, as a foot stool side table or even a plant stand. A great accent piece that will blend nicely into any home environment be it French country decor, modern, rustic, mid-century, traditional, rustic contemporary, etc. All photos taken in natural, indoor light, so colors may vary, based upon brightness, angles and perspective in which they are viewed.
Note: the legs will be disassembled to simplify the shipping process. No tools required to reassemble.
