A beautifully grounded vintage DS-47 two-seater sofa by De Sede, made in Switzerland in the 1970s. The DS-47 is one of those designs that says everything through material and proportion alone: thick neck leather, softly rounded volumes, low architectural lines, and a quiet kind of authority that only gets better with age. De Sede’s own brand history notes that the DS-47 was presented at IMM Cologne in 1976 and immediately drew attention for its use of exceptionally thick 5 mm bull leather, a detail the company still highlights today as an example of its craftsmanship. That material quality is really the heart of the piece. De Sede grew out of a Swiss saddlery tradition and remains closely associated with hand-crafted leather furniture made in Switzerland, long-lasting construction, and an almost sculptural treatment of upholstery.
