Original "Lily of the Valley" five-arm arc lamp, designed by Christian Koban for the German design house DOM. A signed design piece from the 70s/80s – paper DOM label still on the marble base.
The name Lily of the Valley refers to the way the five chrome arms elegantly fan out like flowers on a stem. A true eye-catcher that instantly makes a difference in any interior and is traded internationally via 1stDibs, Pamono, and Catawiki.
Features:
• Design: Christian Koban
• Manufacturer: DOM, Germany
• Solid Carrara marble base (spherical, very heavy)
• Five adjustable chrome-plated arms with cylindrical sockets
• Suitable for mirrored bulbs (E27)
Condition & functionality: beautiful vintage condition. The chrome shows light signs of wear consistent with its age – for the connoisseur, this is actually a sign of authenticity. The marble base is in good condition with the characteristic natural veining. The lamp was last seen working a year ago. The wiring is original and has not been renewed. For safe use, I recommend having the wiring checked or replaced by an electrician – this is advisable anyway for vintage lamps of this age. Sold in its current condition.
See photos. The lamp was seen working some weeks ago but now that I just plugged it in it did not work. So please keep that in mind! Possibly this is something simple but good to know.
