Beautiful vintage Dirk Vanoverberghe miniature oil painting of the Grand Place in Brussels, presumably painted in the 1970s. The image shows a view of the Grand Place in Brussels, with particular attention to the monumental House of the Dukes of Brabant. This building, in a classical Baroque style, surrounds the entire southeastern side of the Grand Place. Although the facade forms a unified whole, seven separate houses can be found behind it. Dirk Vanoverberghe is known for his miniatures (often oil on paper, mounted on board). This painting was indeed created using oil on board. During his career, Vanoverberghe traveled extensively to various art cities to draw inspiration for his detailed cityscapes. The vintage miniature painting is in good vintage condition and measures 14.2 cm long, 11 cm high, and 1.8 cm thick. The painting is signed at the bottom (see photos).
