Extendable dining table, model "Milan", designed by Louis van Teeffelen for Wébé, Netherlands, 1960s. Van Teeffelen was one of the better-known Dutch designers of that period, and this table is one of his most recognizable models — in terms of construction and detailing, closely related to the Scandinavian teak furniture that was also widely sold in the Netherlands and Belgium at the time. The rectangular top is made of solid teak with slightly tapered, rounded corners, a detail typical of van Teeffelen's work for Wébé that makes the table visually lighter than a standard rectangular model. The four waisted, tapered legs in the same wood rest on a simple base — sturdily built, without unnecessary ornamentation. The table is extendable via a hidden leaf in the center. When retracted, the length is 130 cm; when extended, 170 cm; width 86 cm; height 74 cm. The teak displays a beautiful, even grain and an original, warm patina befitting its age — normal signs of use, not a reproduction. At Wébé en van Teeffelen, the value lies just as much in the finish and proportions as in the material itself. Collection is possible, or shipping within Belgium and Europe can be discussed.
