A refined set of six vintage Danish dining chairs by Johannes Nørgaard for Nørgaard Møbelfabrik, with the quiet confidence and balanced proportions that define Danish modern design so well. The design is understated yet highly considered: slim cylindrical legs, a gently curved seat rail, and a broad rectangular backrest that gives the silhouette a calm, architectural presence.
What makes this set especially appealing is the combination of warm solid wood frames and the original wool upholstery, which gives the chairs a soft, tactile expression while preserving their authentic character. The upholstery has a beautiful natural tone that works effortlessly in both mid-century and more contemporary interiors.
Craftsmanship & design language: these chairs are a strong example of practical Danish cabinetmaking from the mid-20th century, where simplicity, comfort, and material quality were carefully balanced.
Johannes Nørgaard’s work tends to favour clean profiles and usable elegance over ornament, and that restraint is exactly what gives these chairs their lasting appeal. They feel light in the room, yet visually grounded.
