A beautiful example of the classic library lamp, the English Club lamp, also known as the apothecary lamp. What makes this piece special is the heavy fluted column. Not the standard straight stand, but executed with straight vertical fluting like a classic column. Much heavier and more elegant than later reproductions. An original piece from the heyday of D&B Design Holland, with a warm bronzed brass patina that has built up over the years. Not polished or cleaned, so that the original appearance has been preserved. Fitted with the original conical linen shade, which has a diameter of 35 cm at the base, in a warm salmon tint for atmospheric diffused light. Adjustable swivel arm, ideal as a reading lamp next to an armchair. Brand: D&B Design Holland - original sticker present under the base. Period: circa 1982-1988. Material: solid metal, bronzed brass, linen shade. Model: library floor lamp with fluted column base. Height: Adjustable from 148 cm to 180 cm. Base: Ø approx. 25 cm. Socket: E27 - fully functional, original floor switch and cord. Condition: Good, commensurate with age. Patina intact, original felt present under base. Shade intact, without cracks. A rarer version with these flutes, not often offered.
