Iconic daybed from the 1960s designed by Cordemeijer for Auping, the Cleopatra
Experience the timeless beauty of the 1960s with this iconic daybed designed by Cordemeijer for Auping. Known for its innovative metal coil base, the Cleopatra became a trademark of Auping bed bases in the 1960s, a technique still used in new Auping beds. The bed base is supported by organically shaped dark gray tubes, between which the bed coil hangs.
Today, this model is often used as a stylish daybed or sofa in the living room. We carefully cleaned the bed and manually sanded and oiled the solid teak ends to restore the warm tones of the wood. The woodwork and metal with the original lacquer show slight signs of use, as shown in the photos. The metal has been treated with a professional metal wax. The bed is sold without mattress.
The original angled legs can be easily disassembled, which is convenient for transportation or storage. The bed is suitable for a 200 × 90 cm mattress.
