Vintage display cabinet designed by Henry Walter Klein for Bramin, Denmark, 1960s. A carefully crafted piece of furniture with a calm and balanced appearance, characteristic of the refined Danish mid-century design of this period.
Henry Walter Klein (1919–1987) was a Norwegian-Danish designer who collaborated extensively with the Danish furniture company Bramin starting in the 1960s. His designs are characterized by clean lines, high-quality woods, and a strong emphasis on functionality. The available sources primarily refer to his chairs, sideboards, tables, and storage furniture for Bramin. These items are often made of teak or rosewood, but display cabinets are rarely mentioned. This makes the appearance of this type of furniture exceptional.
Furthermore, the collections and price archives found indicate that Klein display cabinets for Bramin featuring smoked glass do not exist at all. The available overview pages of Klein-meubels display exclusively wooden cabinets and closed storage units, but no display cabinets, let alone examples with smoked glass. This makes this piece of furniture, including the original glass sliding doors, in all likelihood very rare within the Klein oeuvre and the production history of Bramin.
The display cabinet is characterized by a slender design, fine detailing, and a warm wood grain. The smoked glass sliding doors create an elegant, light appearance while simultaneously offering a beautiful way to stylishly display tableware, objects, or books. Thanks to its clean lines and subtle proportions, the furniture integrates effortlessly into both modern and vintage interiors.
The furniture has been thoroughly cleaned and treated with a suitable oil, after which it was carefully polished again. The display cabinet is in very good to perfect condition with no to very few signs of use. Unique condition and as good as new. An atmospheric and particularly rare piece of furniture for lovers of original Danish design.
