Vintage Danish chest of drawers designed by Holger Jensen for FDB Møbler. This piece of furniture comes from the 1960s and is a wonderful example of functional Scandinavian design: clean, understated and with great attention to detail.
The cabinet is finished in oak, with a warm sheen and a beautiful grain that emphasizes the natural beauty of the wood. The design is sober and timeless, but with subtle details that betray its quality: the recessed wooden handles are elegantly designed and give the front peace and rhythm. Thanks to the six spacious drawers - the top of which is divided into two - this piece of furniture offers generous storage space without sacrificing aesthetics. The slim base with crossbar gives the cabinet a light, floating appearance and provides additional stability.
This piece is in good vintage condition. The wood has been carefully cleaned and treated with Danish oil, bringing out its warm color and shine to full effect. Only minimal traces of use are visible, befitting its age, but the whole looks fresh and cared for. There are some signs of use on the top.
Holger Jensen designed in the 1950s and 1960s for FDB Møbler, the Danish cooperative known for its affordable but high-quality design. Led by designers such as Børge Mogensen and Poul M. Volther, FDB Møbler was able to produce furniture that made the ideals of Danish modernism accessible to a wide audience. This chest of drawers reflects that philosophy: simple, durable and timeless.
