Armin Sandig (1929 - 2015) was a German painter and graphic artist. As a self-taught artist, he was initially influenced by Max Beckmann, Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee, but more and more often he found his own way and language in abstract painting. He received many prestigious awards and was one of the most important representatives of German art of the 20th century. In 2002, he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. His works are in several German museums.
