Vintage Chinese camphor wood chest, dating from the 2nd half of the 20th century. A nice and decorative Chinese chest made of camphor wood, which acts as a moth repellent. The lid features a beautifully detailed relief of traditional Chinese junks (sailing ships) sailing in a mountainous coastal landscape with a pagoda or watchtower in the background. The edges are decorated with a continuous floral and leaf motif. In the past, parts of the lid and near the left hinge have been glued. Some wear to the lacquer all around, otherwise in sturdy condition. Dimensions: 80 cm wide, 38 cm deep and 39.5 cm high. No. 7569
