Product description
For sale is a characterful mid-century modern chest of drawers with clean lines and a simple, elegant design. The piece consists of two sections: two drop-down doors in the upper section and a hinged door and three drawers in the lower section. The fronts feature a beautiful teak grain with a warm hue, while the sides of the body are finished with oak veneer. Originally part of a modular wall shelving system by an Austrian cabinetmaker, this piece has been carefully converted into a freestanding chest. The surface has been sanded, repaired, and then oiled, which beautifully highlights the natural grain.

This piece was originally made as part of a modular wall shelving system, a type of system commonly produced by cabinetmakers in Austria during the 1960s and 70s. These systems were designed for flexible combination and expansion. Thanks to their solid construction and the use of high-quality veneers, many of these pieces have survived to this day. In this case, the modules were reinterpreted and transformed into a standalone chest of drawers, resulting in a functional piece of furniture with a mid-century modern feel.
Thanks to its clean proportions, the piece appears calm and balanced in the room. The warm wood tones add depth and warmth, while the simple design ensures that the chest of drawers integrates seamlessly into both classic and modern living spaces.
