Large modernist watercolor by Swedish auction painter Martin Emond (1895-1965). The watercolor was painted in the 1950s. Signed in the lower right corner. Framed in the 70’s.
Martin (Vilhelm Jönsson) Emond, born October 21, 1895 in Tågarp, died April 28, 1965 in Landskrona, was a Swedish painter.
He was educated as a drawing teacher at the College of Art and Design in Stockholm, and then attended the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, incl. at Olle Hjortzberg’s. He made many study trips during the 1920s, but unlike most young Swedish artists at the time, Martin Emond did not travel to France. Instead, he traveled to Germany and Austria. He was influenced by early German expressionism and Oskar Kokoschka.
Martin Emond is represented, inter alia, at Malmö Art Museum, Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Kalmar Art Museum, Norrköping Art Museum and Gothenburg Art Museum
