Designed by Swiss architect Gian Franco Legler for the restaurant Basket, this iconic chair gained international recognition in the early 1950s, particularly in the United States, following a design award by the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. The Basket chair combines minimalist elegance with remarkable comfort. Its slender black-lacquered metal frame provides a precise architectural structure, while the woven wicker seat forms a light and welcoming basket-like shell. This original vintage example dates from the 1960s and remains in very good condition. The wicker and metalwork are well preserved, showing only discreet signs of age and use consistent with its vintage character. A refined and highly collectible example of mid-century European design.
