A beautiful set of two vintage armchairs, designed by Louis van Teeffelen and produced by the Wébé furniture factory in the 1960s. These models have a short backrest, originally intended as ladies' armchairs, but men are certainly welcome to sit in them as well; it is 2026, after all.
The set comes from the original owners in Helmond, who purchased them as one of their first pieces of furniture at their wedding. About 25 years ago, the armchairs were reupholstered with an orange wool fabric by Kvadrat, but both the fabric and the padding were in dire need of replacement.
Once they arrived at our workshop, they were completely restored. The teak frames were thoroughly cleaned and refinished, restoring their original, warm, and inviting appearance. A nice detail is that the veneered armrests are slightly lighter in color than the frames, creating a subtle yet beautiful contrast.
The organically shaped seats were rebuilt from scratch, with new foam, dacron, fabric, and buttons. The result is exceptionally comfortable seating, exactly as you'd expect from a Teeffelen armchair. The green bouclé fabric, soft and coarsely textured, creates a beautiful contrast with the warm wood and fits effortlessly into almost any interior.
The design of the frames is typical of Teeffelen: elegant, chic, and meticulously crafted. Place this armchair alongside other "Teeffelen" armchairs, and it's immediately clear which one he actually designed. It's truly an armchair you'll sit in in the morning and not wake up in the evening. Designed with Danish aesthetics as inspiration, but we affectionately call it Dutch design!
