Vintage adjustable lounge armchair from the 1970s, featuring a laminated beech wood frame and separate upholstered back and seat sections. The chair has a unique modular design in which both the backrest and seat are adjustable via an integrated wooden slot mechanism.
The frame consists of continuous curved armrests made of laminated wood with a warm dark brown finish. The armchair is constructed in a fully demountable manner using industrial bolt and bushing connections, typical of Western European functional modernism from the 1970s.
Features beige/off-white upholstery with a subtle texture. The chair has a comfortable deep seat and a strongly sculptural appearance that fits well within mid-century, Scandinavian-inspired, and modernist interiors.
Probably manufactured in Western Europe (possibly the Netherlands/Germany), circa 1970–1985. Manufacturer unknown. Special features:
adjustable backrest and seat
laminated bentwood frame
demountable modular construction
