Short Description:
This original Knoll Executive Chair (purchased in the 1980s by our family) was designed by Richard Sapper. A true iconic chair.
Richard Sapper:
Best known for the Tizio Lamp, Sapper designed a complete executive office line for Knoll in the late 1970s. This was 'the chair' to have back then. Made out of black leather and steel it was a true office statement.
Looks/Leather:
The chair is over 40 years old and therefore shows signs of wear true to its age. Normal wear on the leather with years of sitting in the chair, and signs of wear on the steel frame/footrests. The leather is fully original and in good condition with no tears or major damage. The arm rests are removable. See photos for details.
Functions:
The chair functions (up/down/tilt/tilt locking mechanism) also all work properly.
Elastic Bands:
The elastic bands in the chair have aged, meaning there is very little stretch left. As a result, when sitting, the back is no longer supported as it should be. It is therefore recommended to have the back and seat straps replaced. This can be done from the underside of the chair (see photos).
First Owner:
As mentioned, this is a single owner product from our family. We have always taken good care of our design furniture. The elastic straps have been replaced once by an official Knoll dealer around the mid 90's, after which the chair has been used as an office chair until the early 2000s, after which it has been sitting in storage.
