Droste porcelain dinnerware set, consisting of the cocoa pouring jug + matching cup and saucer.
The Droste dinnerware, including the iconic chocolate pouring jug (also known as a cocoa pot or kettle) with a rattan handle, and the matching cup and saucer, was produced in the 1930s by Porseleinfabriek Victoria in Maastricht. This was commissioned by Droste's Cacao- en Chocoladefabrieken from Haarlem, as part of a savings campaign in which consumers collected coupons from Droste products to obtain the porcelain.
The design depicts the famous nurse (based on a drawing by Jan Misset from 1910) holding a tray of cocoa products, emphasizing the 'beneficial' effect of hot chocolate.
This dinnerware was released between approximately 1920 and 1939, with the pouring jug specifically available from 1925 (for 250 coupons).
Offered is the pouring jug + 1 cup and saucer. There will be some minuscule scratches or spots to be found on this century-old dinnerware.
