Original "Elena" side table, designed by Vico Magistretti for PIN / Metra in the 1970s.
A beautiful example of Italian plastic design from the period in which Magistretti demonstrated how simple a piece of furniture can be without becoming boring. The flowing transitions between the tabletop and legs give the table an almost sculptural appearance.
The table is made of black high-gloss plastic and still bears the original molded marking on the underside with the model name, manufacturer, designer, and patent number.
With its compact size, it is ideal as a side table next to an armchair or sofa, as a bedside table, or as a pedestal for a lamp or art object.
Dimensions
approx. 45 × 45 × 25 cm
Condition
The table is completely original and stable.
As is fitting for a used object approximately fifty years old, the high-gloss plastic shows clear scratches from use. Additionally, there is minor superficial damage, likely caused by a hot cigarette that once ended up next to an ashtray. These signs of wear are purely cosmetic and do not detract from the construction or design.
An original Italian design object by one of the most important designers of the twentieth century.
