Vicke Lindstrand — one of the most influential figures in 20th-century Scandinavian glass art — began at Orrefors in 1928 and helped propel the manufactory to international renown. Together with Simon Gate and Edward Hald, he shaped the golden age of Swedish glass through technical innovations such as the Ariel and Graal techniques.
Lindstrand’s work at Orrefors often merged Art Deco geometry with organic motion, producing vases that seem to capture light as if it were a tangible substance. The Stella Polaris series is a perfect embodiment of this vision — simultaneously precise, architectural, and ethereal.
