Offered: An extremely rare piece of postmodern design history. This round 'Polytherm' serving tray was designed in 1986 by the famous Italian architect and designer Matteo Thun for WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik), Germany. While the rectangular variants from this specific 'La Galleria' collection occasionally surface on high-end design platforms such as Pamono for around €800, this round version with the iconic, vibrant orange-white zigzag pattern (chevron) cannot be found anywhere online. An absolute 'holy grail' for collectors of 1980s design. Design
Matteo Thun was a co-founder of the legendary Memphis Group, together with Ettore Sottsass. This tray perfectly embodies the playful, bold, and geometric aesthetic that so characterizes this era.
