The Castell embodies this evolution perfectly, combining a strict, almost architectural grid with an inviting, informal lounge character. Its sculptural presence and low profile make it a true centerpiece within contemporary, eclectic, or 70s inspired interiors. Hans Hopfer is internationally renowned for his iconic Mah Jong sofa for Roche Bobois, one of the most celebrated modular seating systems ever created. The Castell can be seen as part of this same design language, exploring freedom of composition, comfort and adaptability in a more structured, architectural form. The design is composed of individual cubic elements that can be arranged freely, creating a dynamic, Tetris-like configuration.
