“Venus of Rhodes” sculpture in white glazed ceramic, produced by the Icaro Rodi manufactory in the 1930s. The female figure, shown nude and crouching as she arranges her long wavy hair, is modeled with elegance and naturalism, enhancing the softness of the forms and the purity of the lines.
The glossy white glaze intensifies the brightness of the piece, while the intimate, compact pose recalls classical models reinterpreted through a refined Art Déco lens.
The Industria Ceramiche Artistiche Rodio Orientali (ICARO) was founded in 1928 in Rhodes, under Italian protectorate, drawing inspiration from Greek and Turkish ceramic traditions while blending them with modern European taste.
A piece of great charm and historical significance, in very good overall condition.
