An Icon of Czechoslovak Art Glass – the Large "Tulip" Vase by Josef Hospodka for the Chřibská Sklárna Glassworks (23 cm)
For sale is a beautiful, fully original vase made of heavy, thick art glass. Designed by the renowned designer Josef Hospodka and produced at the renowned Czechoslovak Chřibská Sklárna Glassworks at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s, it is a flagship and highly sought-after example of post-war organic design.
Distinguishing Features:
Phenomenal Coloration: The interior of the vase is decorated with an energetic and incredibly photogenic color composition – a deep, saturated pink (fuchsia) blends seamlessly with a warm, orange-honey hue at the base. The entire piece is encased in a thick layer of clear sodium glass, creating a spectacular effect of depth in daylight.
Organic flower form: The top of the vase is hand-formed into the wavy petals of a spreading tulip. The lower section features distinctive, soft protrusions (ears) that smoothly transition into a stable, solid base.
High collectible status: Models over 20 cm tall in this vibrant pink-orange color are among the most sought-after by lovers of retro and space-age design.
