The vase features a so-called 'Fat Lava' or 'Écume de Mer' (sea foam) glaze. This is recognizable by the thick, rough, and bumpy texture reminiscent of solidified lava. The center section has a bright orange color. The top and bottom sections have a cream-colored, grainy texture with white accents. The object comes from Vallauris, a well-known French center for ceramic art. A small original label is also visible on the orange area in the photo. This striking Vallauris vase, known as the 'Ecume de Mer' model, is a characteristic example of French ceramics from the 1960s. The design stands out due to the expressive Fat Lava glaze technique, which creates a rich texture and a vibrant color contrast.
The vase is crafted from ceramic and displays a dynamic interplay of orange and beige tones. The rough, foamy texture of the glaze is reminiscent of sea foam, which explains the name 'Ecume de Mer'.
